Good enough for everyday meals, but it's an estimate, not a food scale.
- Portion size and hidden fats (oil, butter, sauces) cause most of the error.
- Shoot from above with the whole plate in frame.
- Add what the camera can't see, like "cooked in 1 tbsp oil".
- On a strict cut, weigh your staple foods and use photos for the rest.
In RepFuel: You review every item and can edit the amounts before anything is added to your log.
Yes. Export your workouts from Hevy as a CSV file and import it into RepFuel.
- In Hevy: Settings → Export & Import Data → Export Workouts.
- In RepFuel: Workout → Import from Hevy, then choose the file.
- Your sets, weights, reps and dates come across, so last-session numbers and PRs carry on where you left off.

- Search in English or Malay: "fried rice" finds nasi goreng, "egg" finds telur.
- Values are for typical hawker portions, so treat them as estimates; every stall is a little different.
- Photo and voice logging understand local dishes too.
Yes. Tap the mic and say what you ate, for one meal or the whole day.
- For example: "two eggs and kopi for breakfast, nasi lemak for lunch, then a protein shake after gym".
- AI splits it into separate foods, puts each under the right meal and estimates calories and macros.
- Prefer typing? Write the same sentence instead.
In RepFuel: You review and edit every item before anything is added to your log. Recordings are turned into text and not stored.
Nothing is lost. Your workout is saved on your phone as you go.
- Reloading the page or a dead zone in a basement gym won't wipe your sets.
- It syncs to your account when you tap Finish with a connection.

Nutrition & fat loss
Probably water hiding the fat loss. Judge your 2–3 week trend, not single weigh-ins.
- Daily swings of 1–2 kg are normal: a salty meal, a high-carb day or a hard leg session all make you hold water.
- The menstrual cycle can mask fat loss for a week or more.
- Still flat after 3 weeks of honest logging? Then it's time to adjust intake.
In RepFuel: A trend line runs through your weigh-ins and, after about two weeks of logging, RepFuel estimates your daily energy needs (TDEE) from what you ate and how your weight moved, so you can see roughly how much to adjust.
About 0.5–1% of your body weight per week.
- Already lean? Stay nearer 0.5%. Cutting fast when lean costs the most muscle.
- Keep protein high and keep lifting heavy, so your body has a reason to hold on to muscle.
In RepFuel: Your chosen rate becomes a daily deficit (about 7,700 kcal per kg), and targets never drop below 1,500 kcal for men or 1,200 kcal for women.
1.6–2.2 g per kg of body weight a day, with the higher end most useful while cutting.
- Split it over 3–5 meals of roughly 0.3–0.4 g/kg each.
- Very overweight? Base it on your goal weight for a realistic number.
In RepFuel: Your protein target is set to 2.0 g/kg when you're cutting and 1.8 g/kg when maintaining or bulking.
Work out your proteinYes, especially if you're new, returning from a break, or carrying more body fat.
- Eat around maintenance or a small deficit, keep protein high, and train with progressive overload.
- Fat lost and muscle gained cancel out on the scale, so watch your waist and your lifts too.
- Weight flat but lifts climbing and waist shrinking? It's working.
In RepFuel: Log waist and arm measurements next to your weight, and see both charted over time.
Training
Use double progression: add reps first, then weight.
- Pick a rep range, say 8–12, and keep the same weight until every working set hits 12.
- Then add the smallest jump: 2.5–5 kg on lower-body barbell lifts, 1–2.5 kg on upper body.
- Drop back to the bottom of the range and build up again.
In RepFuel: Every set shows last session's weight × reps, so each set has a target: match it, then beat it. New bests trigger a PR alert.
No. They prepare you for the work but don't drive much growth.
- Counting them inflates your volume and makes weeks hard to compare.
- Count the sets that are genuinely hard (within a few reps of failure).
In RepFuel: Tap a set number to mark it as a warm-up (W), drop set (D) or failure set (F). Warm-ups are left out of volume and personal records (PRs).
With the Epley formula: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30). Trust the trend, not the exact number.
- Most reliable for sets of about 1–10 reps taken close to failure.
- High-rep sets tend to overestimate your true max.
- Don't treat it as a target to test without a proper warm-up and a spotter.
2–3 minutes for big compound lifts, 60–90 seconds for smaller exercises.
- Longer rest on squats, bench, deadlifts and rows keeps more reps in the tank, which means more total work.
- For isolation work, shorter rest is usually enough.
In RepFuel: The rest timer starts when you tick a set, with a different rest time per exercise, and can notify you when rest is over.
Your numbers
Every calculator is an estimate. Formulas are usually within about 10%, and activity levels are rough guesses.
- RepFuel uses Mifflin-St Jeor, or Katch-McArdle if you enter your body fat %, which is better for lean or muscular people.
- The most useful number is your adaptive TDEE: an estimate from your own intake and weight trend.
In RepFuel: After a couple of weeks of logging, Insights replaces the formula's guess with an estimate based on your own log.
